A Warm Thank You to US Voters

Votes are still coming in, but it’s clear that this year’s midterm election in the US has reawakened people’s excitement to engage in the political process in a big way. Record numbers of voters cast their vote for the candidates they feel can best serve their needs. For this, we thank you. If the results of the 2024 election taught us anything, it’s when people check out of the political process, bad things happen.

The political leanings of Epic Publishing shouldn’t be a mystery, since our mission is to protect diversity and root out discrimination in the publishing industry. The people who own this publishing house, work for this publishing house, and are published by this publishing come from a diverse range of ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, neurodivergences, and abilities. This has made Epic Publishing a richer place to work and create.

It’s clear that not all political leaders embrace diversity and anti-discrimination as we do, but the voters made their objections to those limiting views equally clear. Where some candidates tried to lean in to fear and hate, other candidates reached for hope, inclusivity, and love. The latter won out in startling numbers, and that warms our hearts.

Voters also overwhelmingly rejected ballot measures aimed to increase data center construction. We thank you for this as well.

Too many rights have been given handed to corporations by our politicians at the expense of ordinary people. Data centers eat up energy and natural resources, driving up costs for people just trying to heat their homes and drink clean water. AI-generated images and videos have been used to spread misinformation on a wide variety of topics from politics to healthcare. And AI-generated books have flooded and degraded the publishing industry.

The last few years have been difficult for the publishing industry. Thanks to the voters, we have hope that we’re going to see a brighter future soon. Not immediately, of course. The gears of government don’t turn quickly. But soon. And that puts us all in a better place than we were a week ago. So, thank you to the US voters for reaching for love, hope, and a better future for everyone.
